Crown Christmas Card

I was asked to create the Crown Christmas card again this year which was a great compliment! I decided to make the actual paper shape in to a snow globe this time which is new for me as I've only created items to international paper sizes before (except the birds). The design intern, Indra, photographed the piece, added some aspects of snow and put a wooden background in to it which really brings out the shape and of the cut out. These were printed and sent out to clients and suppliers.

Office Decorations

These decorations are incredibly simple and easy to make. I was making the office look a little more festive and decided to use the bits and bobs that we had going spare. You can use any colours you like and edit the text to your own preference so you can completely customise it. Just cut two strips of paper, both the same width but make one about 3 cm shorter than the other, cut your text out making sure you leave the bottom of the letters attached to the paper, bend the letters up and staple/glue the paper together to create a circle. Simple!

Black Labrador Illustration

I love dogs. There, I've said it. So I decided to show my love for canines with a dog series starting with this Black Labrador. It's a simple paper cutout that I'm going to be listing on Etsy and there's more dogs to come. I've just started working on a Jack Russell and one of my underestimated favourite...the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Aotearoa

A girl at work to create something for her that reminded of her home country, New Zealand. She requested to have the word 'Aotearoa' in it which is the Maori word for the country which I popped in a banner and illustrated Kowhai plants behind which are apparently very common in NZ. She also asked to have her two family names carved  in to the tree trunk.

Matt & Jemima

I  was asked by the same girl as before to do another piece for her...a returning customer! She requested another organic and natural design with the names of her cousin and her new husband. This illustration is something that I haven't really done before as I've normally built the piece around the text, whereas was the other way round. One VERY annoying issue and the first mistake I have ever made with paper cutting is that I drew the ampersands the wrong way round! I always draw the design on the reverse of the paper backwards and just didn't think when I drew it. Hmmm.

Mike & Celia

I was commissioned by two girls at work to make a piece for their friend's wedding to give as a gift. The brief was that they are humanists, are 'very green' and something Rob Ryan-esque, so I decided to go with an A3 organic, illustrative design without any of the normal icons associated with weddings (ie wedding bells, church etc).

Domesticated

I was asked to create something for some friends for Christmas, however, I completely missed that deadline and gave it to them in February! They've just had it mounted and framed and sent me this picture to show how it looks on their wall...not bad? The cut out consists of three layers and features a bullfinch and blossom (bad quality close up below).
