Four Weddings and a Funeral

A friend asked if I could make him a cut out to give to his wife for their first wedding anniversary (awww). One of her favourite films is Four Weddings and a Funeral, so we both meticulously went through the film in search for an appropriate quote. Apologies for the quality of the photos, they were taken in a hurry from my phone. This is the first time I made my own mount, it didn't go as badly as I thought it would.

The Warriors A5 Mock-ups

 

A friend asked if I could mock-up some designs for his favourite film, The Warriors. I tried to pick out iconic imagery from the film as the quotes are generally quite length. As these are only A5 mock-ups, I haven't added the amount of detail that I would if they were larger. I have to say my favourite is Swan...

Story House

eatbigfish asked me to create a Story House for them to present to a client. The concept behind it is that each story has different needs with specific occasions/audiences, which the Story House helps to illustrate. For example...the garage - stories of discovery or invention: things we take out to help us make our future.

What A Wonderful World

My Grandparents gave me numerous scalpels and a beautiful wooden box to house all of my arty bits and bobs in for my Birthday so to say thank you I have made them an A3 paper cut out. I still need to add a few details to the flowers and then frame and mount it...

Crown Christmas Card

 I was asked to create the Crown Christmas card again this year which was a great compliment! I decided to make the actual paper shape in to a snow globe this time which is new for me as I've only created items to international paper sizes before (except the birds). The design intern, Indra, photographed the piece, added some aspects of snow and put a wooden background in to it which really brings out the shape and of the cut out. These were printed and sent out to clients and suppliers.

Aotearoa

A girl at work to create something for her that reminded of her home country, New Zealand. She requested to have the word 'Aotearoa' in it which is the Maori word for the country which I popped in a banner and illustrated Kowhai plants behind which are apparently very common in NZ. She also asked to have her two family names carved  in to the tree trunk.

Christmas at Crown

So I realise this post is a little late but December has proved to be extremely busy. I'm now working at a live events company in Shepherd's Bush, London called Crown. I'm doing all sorts of bits and bobs from manning Reception to market research and even mouse hunting. However, after talking to the Creative Department (Dan Osman and Casey Evans) they decided to let me design and create the Crown Christmas card this year...so of course I whipped out my scalpel and made a paper cut (check out the Christmas pudding 'O').

Vertigo

My last Hitchcock cut out and my last cut out altogether at Bath School of Art and Design! We start setting up for assessments tomorrow...getting VERY nervous now! This one is to pair up with Rear Window.

The Birds

I didn't think that I would be cutting out any more flipping birds, but it turns out I have. Going with the Hitchcock series I thought it would make a lot of sense to do one themes on 'The Birds', so here it is...

Rear Window

So I'm making a mini Hitchcock victim so a classic suspense I couldn't wait to do was Rear Window. This one is slightly different as it's layered and you can actually see a colour! Shock horror.

Psycho

So, after learning from my huge mistake with the last piece, I spray painted the back first and then cut it out. This quote as you may well know is from Psycho....amazing film. I popped it in a floating frame and it works quite well?!
